Limpitlaw Consulting provides site-based solutions. Dr. Daniel Limpitlaw, the principal of the Consultancy, is a registered mining engineer and a fellow of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He specialises in the assessment of both direct and indirect impacts of mining on the environment and surrounding communities. He has experience in geographic information systems and remotely-sensed image processing for impact assessment and has presented courses in ventilation/refrigeration engineering and hazard management. He was the Project Manager for the Mining, Minerals and Sustainable Development southern Africa project and has been involved in several mining-related sustainable development projects. He has experience across the mining life cycle in numerous African countries and has been the technical services manager at VGML, an underground gold mine in Fiji. Through a network of associates, Limpitlaw Consulting is able to undertake full-scale environmental and social impact assessments, and a range of specialist mining, biophysical and social assessments.
Limpitlaw Consulting’s work has focussed on Africa and the Company has experience and a sound understanding of the operating conditions in developing countries. Recent projects have been located in Cameroon, Eritrea, Namibia, South Africa and Fiji in environmental settings ranging from hyper-arid deserts, grasslands and savannas to tropical rain forests. Working directly and as a subcontractor, Limpitlaw Consulting has undertaken work for a range of multinational companies, junior explorers, NGOs and government agencies. Many of these have been multi-year projects and have generated repeat business. The company is now in its seventeenth year of existence.
